Student Registration of 2009 Spring Semester PDF Print E-mail

 

Dear all,

Welcome to a new semester!  Iowa Chinese Language School will start the 2009 spring semester on Jan 11th 2009 at Johnston High School (JHS). 

Registration will start on Jan 8th.  It will be handled online for an effective school management.  Please click "Registration" on the menu at www.IowaChineseSchool.org to access the online registration site.  Meanwhile, you can find registration policy, class description, teachers’ introduction, and school calendar at the school website as well. Prior to your online registration, please prepare for updated information of student's doctor (name/phone number), student's insurance (name/policy number) and other changes including phone numbers and email address.

Full payment of tuition is expected to be paid on Jan 11th 2009, or no later than Jan 25th 2009.  You need to pay $140 and $50 for a language and non-language class respectively.  There is a $20 discount of a language class for the second and thereafter students from the same family. Starting from 2008 fall, ICLS will only offer new classes during fall semester. If new students register during spring semester, they have to join the existing classes.   Mrs. Amy Zhao, school treasure, will lead to collect your payments at JHS.

Open House Program: Evolution of Chinese Character and calligraphy PDF Print E-mail
Dear All:
 
The ICLS will host a seminar on evolution of Chinese character and calligraphy. This seminar will introduce a brief history and development of Chinese character and calligraphy, followed by Chinese calligraphy demo and Q&A.

Dr. Qing has been practicing Chinese calligraphy since childhood and good at various performing styles. He has been invited to give Chinese character and calligraphy seminars at public schools and art organizations across the central Iowa. This seminar will be given in English and open to public for free. Please join us to learn more about Chinese language and its writing art.

Understanding China Culture to Build International Relationships PDF Print E-mail
Partnership among PAAN, ICIA and ICLS leads to China Basics Program offerings

An introductory Chinese culture training class -- Exploring Chinese Social Customs -- was offered to Pioneer employees on May 29 to help employees better appreciate the culture of this influential country. As one participant commented, “I really enjoyed this program and learned a lot about the culture of people that I work with. This was one of the best and most useful training programs I have been to -- it will help me with many interactions with various Chinese cultures.”

ICLS Receives $5,000 from Pioneer Hi-Bred PDF Print E-mail

Des Moines, Iowa (May 14st 2008) – The Iowa Chinese Language School (ICLS) received a $5,000 donation from Pioneer Hi-Bred, a DuPont business, in May, 2008. Since the ICLS was founded in 1999, Pioneer has actively supported diversity efforts in its community and has been one of the key ICLS sponsors.
